About this tool
Converting cups to grams depends on the ingredient: a cup of flour weighs about 120 g, sugar 200 g and butter 227 g. The converter uses ingredient densities based on USDA FoodData Central and baking references, assuming US customary cups (236.6 mL) and spoon-and-level measuring. Volume-to-volume conversions (tbsp → tsp → mL) work the same for every ingredient: 1 cup = 16 tbsp = 48 tsp.
Tip: a $15 kitchen scale is the best upgrade for consistent baking. How you scoop flour can change a “cup” by 25%.

16 US tablespoons, and each tablespoon is 3 teaspoons.
Are US and metric cups the same?
No. A US cup is 236.6 mL, while the metric cup used in Australia, Canada and New Zealand is 250 mL. The difference is about 6%, which is fine for most recipes.
