About this tool
Fixing capitalization by hand is slow, and it is easy to miss a word. The case converter rewrites the whole text at once. Title Case keeps short words like “of”, “the” and “and” lowercase unless they start the title, which matches common headline style. Sentence case capitalizes the first letter of each sentence and the pronoun “I”.
The programming cases (camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case and CONSTANT_CASE) split words at spaces, punctuation and existing capital letters, so userFirstName becomes user_first_name correctly.
Frequently asked questions
Does Title Case capitalize every word?
No. Articles, short conjunctions and short prepositions (a, an, the, and, of, in, on, to and so on) stay lowercase unless they are the first word or follow a colon. This matches AP and Chicago headline style for most titles.
Will converting to lowercase lose my original text?
The conversion replaces the text in the box, but you can press Undo (or Ctrl/Cmd+Z) to step back. Nothing is saved or uploaded.
Does it work with accented letters and other alphabets?
Yes. Upper and lower case use your browser’s Unicode rules, so é, ß, Greek and Cyrillic letters convert correctly.
What is alternating case?
aLtErNaTiNg case switches between lower and upper case on every letter. It is popular for memes and sarcastic captions. Spaces and punctuation are skipped, so the pattern stays even.
